Film Review - UTHAMAPUTHIRAN

Story unfolds with the age old story of kidnapping of a bride by mistake and facing the sequences which develop as a result of it.  Pooja's (Genelia) entry into Siva's (Dhanush) family brings back the memories of "Santosh Subramaniam".  But the bubbling energy which Genelia displayed in that movie is missing here.  With not much scope for acting Dhanush makes an ordinary appearance in the movie.  As publicized before the release of the movie, Vivek's entry is the main twist in the story.  Vivek plays an auditor's (fake) role with the nickname "Emotional Ekambaram" (a new trend started in naming the characters which started with "Erimalai" in Singam and we are likely to witness similar names in the forthcoming movies). His character is definitely enjoyable especially when Dhanush's tricks often puts him in a tight corner before the villains. Bagyaraj has an interesting role as "Washington Vetrivel" which helps in moving the story in the second part.

Uthamaputhiran is a family entertainer with mild characters and incidents.
